 (posted on October 07, 2009 11:32)

Many assets of our water and sewer infrastructure are buried underground and are out of sight and out of mind.  To provide more information on the importance of maintaining these systems, Lee's Summit Water Utilities has made two documentaries available on the local Government Access Channel.

Liquid Assets: The Story of Our Water Infrastructure paints a picture of the current state of our water and sewer infrastructure on a national level.  This hour and half special, produced by Penn State Public Broadcasting, demonstrates the importance of utility system maintenance and replacement to sustain a high quality of life that is often taken for granted.

Liquid Assets: The Story of Our Water Infrastructure can be viewed at the following times:

Monday             9 p.m.
Wednesday     7 p.m.
Saturday           Noon

Path of Least Resistance is a short ,10 minute video from the Little Blue Valley Sewer District on the importance of removing inflow and infiltration (I&I) from our sanitary sewer system to reduce backups and overflows.  The Little Blue Valley Sewer District treats sanitary sewer from many area communities, including Lee's Summit.
