The Public Works Operations Division is responsible for snow removal on public streets. The division monitors weather forecasts closely to schedule crews in advance of winter weather to ensure the highest possible level of response for safe travel during the event.
During snow removal operations, the Snow Desk is staffed 24 hours a day. Once sno
w removal operations are completed, calls are answered during normal business hours (7:00 am to 3:30 pm).
Snow Plan Route Classifications
- Primary routes: Major four-lane or high volume two-lane streets (shown in blue)
- Secondary routes: Minor thoroughfares (shown in red)
- Residential streets: Includes residential through streets, dead ends, and cul-de-sacs (shown in green)

Weather Terms
- Travel Advisory: Driving conditions might be hazardous.
- Blizzard Warning: Snow with winds greater than 35 MPH and visibility of one quarter mile or less is expected.
- Winter Storm Warning: Snowfall of four (4) to six (6) inches expected during the next 12 hour period.
