Wednesday morning (03-10-10) officers were dispatched to 1101 NE Rice Road, Temp Stop convenience store, at 5:25 a.m. on the report of an armed robbery. The store clerk reported a white male entered the store wearing a dark colored ski mask and dark hooded sweat shirt armed with a shotgun. The subject demanded and received money from the register after which he fled to a waiting vehicle. The vehicle, a silver Dodge Caliber fled eastbound on NE Scruggs Road. The shotgun was not discharged during the incident and no injuries were reported.
With the information provided by police dispatchers an officer in the area of Todd George Pkwy and Langsford Road identified the suspect vehicle stopped for a red light at the intersection. Other officers converged to assist and a car stop was conducted as the suspect vehicle pulled into a second Temp Stop convenience store in the 1700 block of SE Langsford Road. The white male subjects in the vehicle, both Lee’s Summit residents of 20 and 21 years of age, were arrested without incident and the shotgun was recovered. Their names have not been released awaiting formal charges. In addition the vehicle they were operating was reported stolen from Raytown and Raytown officers were actually completing their report at the time of the Lee’s Summit incident.
