On October 15, 2009 the police department completed a motor vehicle theft report in the 200 block of NW Hemlock St. in northern Lee’s Summit. Taken in the theft was a black 2005 GMC S15, along with the victim’s wallet and other personal belongings inside the vehicle. The vehicle was recovered a week later near 83rd and Hillcrest in Kansas City after being partially stripped and set on fire. Since the theft the suspects have used stolen credit cards from the vehicle for purchases at several stores throughout the metro area totaling close to $1,000.
From store security photographs taken during the use of one stolen credit card detectives are hoping to identify the two suspects. In the photo both suspects appeared to be white males of average build and height. One suspect is wearing a red shirt which appears rather large but very distinctive and obvious to those who may know him and recognize it.
Detectives are requesting anyone who may recognize the suspects to contact the LSPD Criminal Investigations Unit directly at 816-969-1720.
