Lee’s Summit, Mo. – Police department detectives are requesting assistance in identifying a credit card scammer operating in the metro area. His image has been captured on store surveillance cameras and Lee’s Summit detectives are currently working six active cases related to the same suspect. To date from these six cases the fraudulent charges have exceeded $6,000. In each case the victim whose credit card is being scammed still has possession of the card and only the number has been lifted and remade onto another card.
Detectives hope from the store surveillance footage someone may recognize the suspect and will contact police. From the footage he can be identified as a tall black male of dark complexion. The stores who have asked for ID were presented with either a Nigerian passport or other immigration identification. As would be expected one contact remembers the suspect speaking with an accent. The footage outside the store has also captured an image of the suspect’s newer model pearl white vehicle but exact make and model has yet to be determined.
Anyone with further information or knowledge of the suspects’ identity is asked to contact the LSPD Criminal Investigations Division directly at 816-969-1720
