LEE’S SUMMIT POLICE DEPARTMENT

17TH ANNUAL AWARDS CEREMONY

 

Lee’s Summit, Mo. –  On Monday, February 28th, 2011 the Lee’s Summit Police Department held its annual awards ceremony to honor citizens and staff for actions that occurred in 2010.  The following is a list of those persons who were chosen to receive recognition:

 

Mr. Joseph Walter & Mrs. Rose Walter – Certificate of Character for Courage – awarded for providing assistance to the Police Department in arresting three suspects.

 

Mr. Kevin Holman & Mrs. Celia Holman – Certificate of Character for Kindness – awarded for providing assistance to a stranded motorist.

 

Mr. Corey King – Certificate of Character for Cooperation – awarded for providing assistance to the Police Department in detecting and arresting two suspects.

 

Mr. Brian Foster – Letter of Appreciation – awarded for providing assistance to the Police Department in locating and aiding an abandoned animal.

 

Mr. Wyatt Wohlleber & Mr. Joshua Hill – Letter of Appreciation – awarded for providing assistance to members of the Police Department and the public during a late 2009 snowstorm.

 

 

Mr. Todd Tunison, Mrs. Carrie Tunison & Mr. Kyle Tunison – Letter of Appreciation – awarded for providing assistance to the Police Department in locating and arresting a driver who was attempting to leave the scene of an accident.

 

Mr. Gene Jewell – Letter of Appreciation – awarded for providing assistance to the Police Department in identifying and locating a suspected sex offender.

 

Mr. David Wood – Letter of Appreciation – awarded for providing assistance to the Police Department in arresting suspects who were stealing from a construction site.

 

Mr. Michael O’Neill – Letter of Appreciation – awarded for coming to the aid of a domestic violence victim.

 

Mr. Timothy Pearce, Mr. Neil Dublinske & Ms. Czerenda Penrod – Letter of Appreciation—awarded for their quick action and assistance given to a Police Officer that was attempting to rescue victims of a residential fire.

 

Mr. Adrian Dean & Ms. Keaira Blount – Letter of Appreciation – awarded for their quick action and life saving assistance that was given to a young boy who was not breathing. 

 

Lisa Lambkin – LSPD Community Assistance Recognition of Excellence Award (C.A.R.E.) – awarded for her continuous and long term support of the annual Hollyfest fundraiser which raises money for the Lee’s Summit D.A.R.E. program.

 

Detectives Chad Albin, Erica Albin, Eric Anderson, Chad Cox, Rachel Evans, Michael Hawkins, Scott Liles, Clayton O’Donnell,  Dan Wood, Richard Griggs and Sgt John King – Award of Commendation for Teamwork – awarded to the members of the Criminal Investigations Division for their hard work on several difficult cases during 2010.

 

Master Police Officer Steve Grubb – Award of Commendation – awarded for life saving efforts and professionalism during a call involving a non-breathing infant.

 

Detective Matt Miller – Award of Commendation – awarded for his efforts on a long term investigation involving stolen property.

 

Detective Brett Parrish – Award of Commendation – awarded for his efforts on a long term drug investigation that yielded Federal drug charges on multiple defendants.

 

Detective Scott Liles – Award of Commendation – awarded for his investigative efforts in solving a series of convenience store robberies.

 

Detective Chad Cox – Award of Commendation – Award of Commendation – awarded for his work on a child victim sex offense case.

 

Master Police Officer Matt Sewing, Master Police Officer Michael Ervin, Police Officer Brent Evans, Detective Chad Cox and Detective Michael Hawkins – Award of Commendation – awarded to the Officers and Detectives for their work on an armed robbery investigation at a local apartment complex.

 

Police Services Officer – Amy Laureano – Award of Commendation – awarded for providing translation services to friends and co-workers who were traumatized by the loss of a friend in an accident.

 

Police Officer James Treacy, Police Officer Shawn Rath, and Communications Specialist Tonia Packard – Award of Commendation – awarded to the Officers and Communications Specialist for their combined effort in locating and arresting two subjects that had just committed an armed robbery.

 

Captain John Boenker, Sgt. Dave Schumaker, Police Officer Shawn Rath, Police Officer Steve Crume, Police Officer Andy Ewing, Police Officer Tim Resch, Police Officer James Thomas – LSPD Community Policing Award -- awarded to all members for their cooperative efforts in reducing crime and helping the residents of a local townhome community.

 

Master Police Officer Mark Wiesemann – LSPD Community Policing Award – awarded for his selfless acts and professionalism in assisting a family who had suffered the loss of a son.

 

Members of the Safe Community Task Force – City Manager Steve Arbo, Chief Joseph Piccinini, Director Mark Shaufler, Director Mark Dunning, Director Bob McKay and Director Bob Hundley – LSPD Community Policing Award – awarded to all members of the Safe Community Task Force for their work in creating the Task Force and for the cooperative results that it has produced.

 

Master Police Officer Mark Wiesemann – Medal of Distinction – awarded for his work on a cooperative effort with the Lee’s Summit Character Council initiative.

 

Detective Michael Hawkins – Medal of Distinction – awarded for his five years of exemplary service in the Traffic Section of the Special Operations Unit.

 

Detective Chad Cox – Medal of Distinction – awarded for his six years of service to the Police Department’s in-service defensive tactics training program.

 

Sgt. Mike Childs – Medal of Distinction – awarded for eight years of service as the Police Department’s Public Information Officer and recruitment officer.

 

Master Police Officer John Kudzinski – Medal of Distinction -- awarded for his eight years of service in the Traffic Section of the Special Operations Unit.

 

Master Police Officer Scott McMilian – Medal of Distinction – awarded for his ten years of service to the Police Department’s in-service drivers training program.

 

Detective Dan Wood – Medal of Distinction – awarded for his thirteen years of service on the Police Department’s Emergency Services Squad.

 

Sgt. Rod Schaeffer – Medal of Distinction -- awarded for his fifteen years of service on the Police Department’s Emergency Services Squad.

 

Sgt. Dave Schumaker – Medal of Distinction -- awarded for his twenty years of service on the Police Department’s Emergency Services Squad.

 

 

Master Police Officer Michael Isberg – Medal of Meritorious Service – awarded for his actions during a residential house fire where he saved the lives of an adult and two children.

 

Lead Communications Specialist Connie Felten – Lee’s Summit Police Department’s Civilian Employee of the Year – awarded for her efforts in improving the communications unit and also for developing a program for school age children dealing with how to use 9-1-1.

 

Detective Scott Liles – Lee’s Summit Police Department’s Officer of the Year – awarded for his efforts to investigate and clear criminal cases as a Detective and also for his work on two Metro Squad homicide cases.
