Junior Police Academy
The Lee’s Summit Junior Police Academy is a week long program that is structured to simulate a professional Police Academy experience for youth between the ages of 12-14. The one week academy experience covers some of the following topics:
- Patrol Tactics
- Crime Scene Investigation
- Drug and Criminal Investigation
- Traffic/Accident Investigation
- Bomb Squad
- K-9 Unit
- Fingerprinting
- Emergency Services Squad (SWAT)
- Agility course
- Situational Role Play
Students attending this academy may also have the opportunity to speak with other local and Federal law enforcement such as the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI). Secret Service, Sheriff’s Department, Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), or Missouri Highway Patrol.
Program Details:
The academy generally occurs in June from 8 a.m. until noon at the Police Department one week each year.
