Beginning Pencil Drawing (Ages 16+)

Knit in the Dark

After learning the basics - knit/purl - you will gain confidence by creating basic knitting mistakes and learn how to correct them. Materials needed: size 8 needles and an inexpensive skein of yarn of light color (4 ply) in order to see your work. To become really good you will want to practice at home. The last class we will turn the lights off and you will KNIT IN THE DARK! Chinese Brush Painting

An introduction to the traditional art form of 4,000 years with a simple, elegant approach to painting using Chinese bamboo brushes, ink and minimal colors. Subjects covered include landscapes, flowers, birds, and other animals. Techniques of brush work, creation of ink tones, and composition will be covered. All materials. This class is intended for those who have limited knowledge of computers. This class walks you through the differences in each site and helps you find the site that is right for you. This course will also take you through the process of setting up an account and emerging you into the social media of your choice. Web Design & Development

Do you have a business and need to have a web site built to increase sales? Or do you have a Facebook page or an online profile that you want to improve through HTML? This interactive class teaches you how to build and publish YOUR own web site. The course utilizes Adobe Dreamweaver, which is the industry standard for building and maintaining web sites. Students enrolled in this class review their own personal domain name (www.yourname.com) hosting (up to 75 mb), storage and personal email address for one year. CPR, First Aid & Self Defense

CounterAttactics (Women age 12+)

A free self defense class for women and girls 12 years and older. The "Counter Attactics - Be Aware and Be Prepared" class is led by Bob "Thunder" Thurman. This is a free program through the sponsorship of James Legal Services, P.C. and Missouri Trial Lawyers Care Fund. Healthcare Provider CPR

The American Heart Association (AHA) credentialed course for nurses, R.T.'s, P.T's, physicians, nursing students and others with health care background. Includes adult, child and infant one and two-rescuer skills, bag/valve/mask and AED. Skills are evaluated and a written test is administered. Upon successful completion, the two-year AHA Healthcare Provider CPR card is issued. Books are available for an additional $15. Instructor: Julie Johnson, M.S. An American Heart Association (AHA) credentialed course designed for first responders in the workplace, safety/security personnel, lifeguards, day-care providers, youth leaders and others whose job expectation is to handle emergency situations. CPR for adult, child and infant is covered along with choking management and use of an AED. Following ample practice time on your own manikin, skills are evaluated. Digital SLR Photography “Manipulating the Moment”

Debra Lawrence shows how to manipulate images in Photoshop from opening an image to creating a collage from scratch. We will take each student through the entire process in a hands on teaching environment. You must own a version of Photoshop to get the most from this class. Bringing a laptop is highly recommended.
