The Fire Department has several processes to follow in order to become a Firefighter for the City of Lee's Summit. If there is no current postings for the City you can fill out an interest card at the Human Resources Department located at City Hall 220 SE Green St.
Here is a list of the Fire Department current Hiring Process that will be followed:
IMPORTANT: This process is subject to change at the Fire Chiefs discretion.
- Application Process
The applicant will fill out an application for the City. The application will then be reviewed by department personnel and a letter will be sent to the applicant referencing instructions and the next step of the hiring process.
- Written Test Process
The written test consists of questions ranging from Human Rescources to reading and comprehension. Once the results are obtained, the candidate will be notified by letter of the results and given instructions on the next step of the process.
- Interview Process
The interview process consists of questions that are selected by fire department staff. Once the interview process has been completed, the results of the entire process will be reviewed and the top candidates will be selected for the final interview.
- Final Interview
The final interview is conducted by the Chief of the Department and his selected hiring panel. Once this process has been completed, the candidate will be offered a job or placed on a eligibilty list for future hiring.
