Fire Damages Duplex

On Saturday, August 20, 2011, at 12:06 a.m., the Lee's Summit Fire Department responded to investigate the report of smoke in the area of Westvale Circle and Fieldcrest Drive. The caller could not determine where the smoke was coming from.

When the fire department arrived in the area, smoke and fire was coming from one unit of a one-story duplex at 512 B NW Westvale Circle. The occupants of both units were outside. 

Firefighters entered the building and quickly knocked down the fire that involved much of the unit. A search of the entire building confirmed that everyone was out of both units and there was no spread of the fire into the other side of the duplex. The fire was under control by 12:36 a.m.

The fire caused extensive damage to unit B of the duplex with only minor smoke damage to the A side.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
