City of Lee's Summit Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program

How to Use This Website

 (posted on June 26, 2009 09:48)

The CDBG Program is a federal program administered by the Department of Housing and Urban Development. The City, as a Grantee, receives funds each year to meet HUD's National Objectives. Due to the complex nature of the program, it is not an easy task to develop a one-fits-all system that will meet the needs of everyone in an easy to use format. We recommend that you read on to see how you can make this website work for you.

If you are new to CDBG, we recommend that you go directly to the CDBG Frequently Asked Questions section under Community Development Block Grant (accessible from the sidebar on the left-hand side of the screen) to see our answers to the most commonly asked questions about the CDBG program, the First Time Homebuyer program and Minor Home Repair program. Our menu on the sidebar clearly indicates that the site is organized such that the General Introduction about the program is the first-things-first. Then you are introduced to the top level (CDBG) plans, which identify community needs and provide information about actions to be funded with CDBG grant to meet those needs. Various reports are provided to summarize accomplishments and other key indicators.

After you gain a good understanding of the program, you may want to know how to apply for funds and determine whether your project is eligible for CDBG funds. Our next group of links in the menu will help you accomplish that. If you are already a subrecipient agency and you need to provide your staff opportunities for training or you want to know about subrecipient monitoring schedules or you want to file quarterly beneficiaries reports, you can find links in relevant web pages.

The CDBG Home will provide you with the latest news, new federal regulation changes, new initiatives, important events as related to CDBG. So come back to get yourself up to speed on what is happening.

If you really want to become an expert on CDBG or if you are a subrecipient or if you will soon become a subrecipient, you may find our Helpful Links page extremely valuable. Here you can find training materials, handbooks as well as federal regulations.

Should you need to contact our CDBG Staff at City Hall, you can go to the Contact Information section to get our phone numbers and mail addresses.

Good Luck!
