Date/Time Change for City Council Meetings

Beginning on October 2, City Council meetings will be held on Tuesday evenings instead of Thursdays. All meetings will begin at 6 p.m.

The City of Lee’s Summit will hold an open house public meeting Thursday, Oct. 4, where the public can hear about planned improvements to Third Street from Murray Road to Pryor Road. The meeting is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Howard Conference Room on the second floor of City Hall, 220 SE Green St.

The meeting is an opportunity to update the public on the engineering plans and schedule for improvements to Third Street. Representatives from Olsson Associates, the design engineering firm, will be in attendance to answer questions along with City staff. There is no formal presentation.

The improvements will include turn lanes, a traffic signal at the intersection of Murray Road and Third Street, and the widening of Third Street east of Pryor Road to Murray Road. The project will enhance safety and operations.

The project will cost approximately $5.1 million and is funded by the 2007 Capital Improvement Sales Tax. Construction is expected to begin in spring 2019 and is expected to take up to 18 months to complete. During construction, Third Street will remain open.

For more information about the Third Street Improvement project, contact the City’s Public Works Department at publicworks@cityofLS.net or (816) 969-1800.
