Lee's Summit Parks and Recreation is an extraordinary group of employees and volunteers dedicated to providing quality, comprehensive recreational services and facilities in superb parks. Summary
Administration Division
Carole Culbertson, Superintendent of Administration
This division provides policy and budget development, auditing and financial analysis, cash management, human resources and staff/patron support services all with just with 4 full time employees.
Recreation Division
Joe Snook, Assistant Administrator. David Dean, Superintendent of Recreation. Tede Price, Assistant Superintendent of Recreation.
This division provides recreational opportunities including aquatics, children’s, youth and adult athletics and enrichment programs, free concerts and special events. We operate and manage LSPR’s community centers Summit Waves with only 14 full time staff and are 100% cost recovery through fees and sponsorships.
Operations & Construction Divisions
Scott Anderson, Superintendent of Park Operations. Gary Welty, Superintendent of Park Construction.
Steve Casey, Assistant Superintendent
With 18 full time employees these divisions work in tandem sharing equipment and employees and are responsible for the maintenance, repair, and construction of park buildings, grounds and equipment of 26 parks, over 1,000 acres and numerous facilities. Operation of the Lee’s Summit Historical Cemetery is also under this section. Responsibilities include record keeping, grave sales, monument sales and installation, and maintenance and repair of building and grounds. In addition, the division is also responsible for the turf, tree and shrub maintenance at designated City-owned properties.
