Changes Made in Procedures for licensing Motor Scooters and Mopeds in Lee's Summit

The State of Missouri will no longer license a moped or scooter as a motorcycle.  Therefore, it is not possible to comply with City Ordinance.  The ordinance is currently under review and when the new ordinance is made official, a new procedure will be posted here on our web page.

FREE Tax Preparation Assistance for Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)

City of Lee’s Summit residents that are eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) can receive free tax preparation services beginning February 7, 2012.  EITC is a refundable federal income tax credit for low-income working individuals and families.

Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Application Process Underway for Program Year 2012-2013

The City of Lee’s Summit will accept applications for the 2012-13 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program funding to support eligible programs and projects sponsored by public agencies or not-for-profit organizations.  Applications will be accepted from January 18 through February 17, 2012 and funds will become available after July 1, 2012.

City Council Approves Water Utilities Strategic Plan

The Lee’s Summit City Council adopted the Strategic Plan for the Lee’s Summit Water Utilities Department and directed staff to adjust the water and sewer rate as recommended in the plan to address system improvements and operating costs. The decision was made during the City Council meeting on December 15 in Lee’s Summit City Hall.

This is the City’s first water and sewer rate increase since 2006. The adjustment will become effective April 1, 2012 for the City’s commercial and residential water services customers. Sanitary sewer services cost will remain unchanged in 2012.

Moody’s assigns Stable Credit Rating to “Aaa”-rated

National credit rating agency Moody’s Investors Service announced Lee’s Summit is one of the “Aaa”-rated municipalities to receive a revised outlook to stable from negative.
