| Budget Committee |
The Budget Committee was created on February 16, 2012, and given the task of reviewing the City Manager's proposed budget prior to its consideration by City Council pursuant to Article XI of the City Charter. Previously, this was a function of the Finance and Personnel Committee. |
| Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) |
The City of Lee's Summit receives federal funds provided through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) through the Community Development Block program to develop viable urban communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment, and by expanding economic opportunities, principally for low-to-moderate income persons. The CDBG Committee reviews applications and decide on a recommended allocation of grant funds for City Council approval. |
| Community Development Committee |
The Community Development Committee (CDC) reviews current or proposed policies or ordinances dealing generally with planning, zoning, residential and commercial development, park land use, code enforcement, general landscaping issues and any other related issues. |
| Finance Committee |
Formerly known as the Finance and Personnel Committee, the Finance Committee was created on February 16, 2012, to assess unfunded expenitures, examine financial statements, evaluate investment actions and recommend purchasing and bid approvals to the City Council. A separate Budget Committee was created on the same date. (See above) |
| Legislative & Intergovernmental Relations |
The Legislative/Intergovernmental Relations Committee began as the “Ad Hoc Legislative Committee” in the 1990’s to work on developing City positions on state and federal legislative matters affecting municipalities. |
| Public Works Committee |
Public committee reviews matters relating to public works (engineering, streets, airport, and solid waste), water and wastewater. They also consider current or proposed ordinance or policies addressing all infrastructure and transportation issues in conjunction with the Design and Construction Manual including issues concerning the Lee's Summit Municipal Airport. |
| Solid Waste Committee |
This Council based committee review matters relating to solid waste prior to consideration and action by the City Council. They also consider current or proposed ordinances or policies addressing solid waste issues in accordance with Solid Waste Management Plan and Permitting requirements. |
