Description

Board of Appeals The Board of Appeals consider and decide appeals of orders, decisions or determinations relative to the application and interpretation of the adopted building codes, fire codes, and Design and Construction Manual. In addition, the Board of Appeals also reviews updated editions to the International Building and Fire Codes for recommendation to the City Council and serves as the Contractor Licensing Board that hears matters related to contractor performance concern(s) related to building construction.
Board of Zoning Adjustments To hear and decide appeals, to vary or modify the application of any of the regulations or provisions relating to the use, construction, or alteration of buildings or structures or the use of land in conformance with the standards specified so public safety and welfare are maintained and substantial justice done.
Charter Review Commission Approximately every 10 years, the City Council appoints a Charter Review Commission to review the Charter and recommend to the voters of the city proposed amendments, if any, to the Charter.
Jackson County Board of Equalization Under the Jackson County Charter, Lee's Summit is entitled to a voting representative and alternate on the Jackson County Board of Equalization to hear and rule on appeals of valuation of property which lies within the boundaries of Lee's Summit.
Planning Commission The Planning Commission considers issues regulating and restricting the uses of land, the use and location of buildings, building height and land area for development. They also review ordinances and policies regulating land use and adopt a Comprehensive Master Plan and Transportation Plan.
