City Prepares for Snow Event Today (Dec. 8)

The City’s snow removal crew is pre-treating primary, secondary and residential streets with rock salt in preparation for the City’s second snow event this month.

According to this morning’s “Weather or Not” forecast flurries and light snow are expected early this evening (Wednesday, Dec. 8) and should move out of the metropolitan area by midnight.

The snow removal crew is scheduled to work throughout the night to treat slick spots on City roadways. Weather conditions will be monitored throughout the day and evening and adjustments to the City’s snow removal operations will be made to effectively deal with changing weather conditions.

The Snow Desk, (816) 969-1870, will be staffed beginning at 7 p.m. Residents can receive updates about the City’s snow removal efforts by e-mail, cell phone text message and Web by visiting: Nixle.com.  Nixle is a FREE service.

Residents are also encouraged to stay up-to-date on weather conditions, by listening to radio, viewing television weather casts, and going online.
